OST 89

Now is the time to enter the next two Orienteering Series Tasmania (OST) events to be held on The Queen's Birthday Weekend on Sat 9th and Sun 10th of June.  Entry is open to everyone and with nine courses available, there is a course available for everyone.  Note - there is no need to pre-enter for Monday's local event at St Virgil's College, Austins Ferry.

The first of these events (OST 8) will be held on Sat 9th of June at Calvert's Beach on South Arm. Courses are set mostly in low scrubby vegetation in the sand dunes behind beautiful Calvert's Beach and adjacent to Calvert's Lagoon.  This map was updated and used last year for the first time in many years.  Courses are in complex terrain, are relatively short and have little or no hill climbing. The event will be a little like a sprint in the bush.

The second of these events (OST 9) will be held on the Rokeby Hills map with the events centre at Oceania Drive, Howrah.  The Rokeby Hills map has been used only once before for a local event and is full of interesting features.  Each course has a technical section at the start and end, with some good runnable sections in the middle.  It should be a good test of orienteering. This event is a Schools Team Selection Event.
