OST and Excellence Points accumulate over the 14 Orienteering Series Tasmania events in 2018 and provide rankings in all competition classes, as well as determining the winners of the Tasmanian Orienteer of the Year and the John Brammall Award for Excellence.
OST kicked off recently with the East Coast 3Day, brought to you by the Esk Valley Orienteering Club. Hilary Cane collected an impressive 30 points over that weekend, Riley Kerr had no luck on Day 1 but took out the maximum 25 points on Day 2, and Martin and Elizabeth Bicevskis went home harmoniously with 3 points each.
A summary of points is found in Latest OST Points (summary) and Latest Excellence Points (summary). These and the workings spreadsheets can also be found under the Results section of the Orienteering Tasmania website.
The next three OST events are the coming Easter days 1 to 3 races. Bay of Fires Day3 is the 6th in the series. So if your spirits are sagging in any of those events, remember that you only have to finish to get one OST point, and pushing hard to maintain your kilometre rate can make a big difference to Excellence points.
