Just a note to remind you that this week - in both Hobart and Launceston - Wednesday events start up again. Yah!
Did you know that every orienteering event is organised entirely by volunteers? Remember to thank these people at your next event for making things happen for you. Plus, if you can, maybe offer to help them.
Social Rogaine entries close tonight! Monday 10 February.
Take up the chance! There's a fun rogaine being held in Hobart next Sunday 16 February. Rogaining Tasmania will be hosting this event which is located in North and West Hobart. Find out the details & Enter here.
Enter Now! Gorringes Beach event Sunday 23 February. Starts from 11 am.
The first of the Hobart Sunday Series will be held on 23 February at Gorringes Beach, west of Sandford. If you can, please pre-enter by Wednesday 19 February! This helps the organisers, but you can just turn up on the day if you can't commit early.
As that morning is also the occasion for the "Run the Bridge" from Bellerive to Hobart, we have decided to put starts for the Orienteering back to an 11am - 1pm time frame. This will allow for the keen athletes to compete in both the Run and the Orienteering, and also allow those coming to the Eastern Shore to avoid the inevitable road closures and reduced bridge traffic.
Please be sure to read the Event Information carefully (it will be up on the website soon) for the Assembly location. With Terry and Dane Cavanagh as course setters, this will be one classy event.

Keep your eyes peeled for these tweaks to the Event Calendar.
All good changes! OST 6 is to be at Royal George, OST 8 at Campania and OST 9 probably at Pittwater. The calendar will be updated soon.
Coaches Wanted!
Expressions of interest are called for people to conduct orienteering activities for our Sporting Schools and Outreach programs in 2020. Most of the work is in schools and for community organisations. There is an established set of activities and you will have equipment and support to run them. Pay is at the award rate for sporting coaches. Existing coaches are encouraged to apply. Contact Mike Calder if you are interested or need more information.
Attention Schools Team hopefuls! Here's a message from Sussan:
Hey All,
Once again we will be looking to run a BBQ at OST events as a major fundraiser to support our orienteering juniors. This year is even more exciting as we have a new BBQ courtesy of the Fisher family – THANK YOU!!
Each year the BBQ raises a significant amount of money which is then used to fund initiatives such as the recent summer training camp, the junior camp prior to the Australian champs and the State Schools Team. These camps are put on for the benefit of all our school age orienteers, whether they plan to try out for the state team or not. Probably more importantly though, the BBQ provides essential nourishment for all the hungry post-orienteering bellies.
To keep this valuable service going we need volunteers.
