It is with great sadness that we said farewell to 2 treasured orienteers this past week. Hannah and Ian will both be fondly remembered for their respective contributions to our sport and kind hearts. They were valued members of their cubs, EVOC and Australopers. And as we celebrate the Festive Season we'll do so with Hannah and Ian in our hearts.

Here's another exciting rogaine for you and a mate to conquer.
The 4 hour North-West HOBART Socialgaine is on Sunday 16 February 2020. There's a 10 am start from John Doggett Park in West Hobart. You can check out the details here.
This is going to be a popular event so form a team and enter. You'll explore houses, history, art, and some oddities around parts of North Hobart and West Hobart. There'll be a few ups and downs along your way but plenty of cafe's as well. In fact - in this event there's a compulsory 15 minute break factored into the timing.
In case you've never heard of rogaining - it's a strategy sport for everyone, conducted on foot in teams of two to five people. Using a purpose-made map marked with check points of differing points values, the aim is to devise a route to visit as many locations as possible and correctly answer the related clue to gather points, all within a set time limit. You can go at your own pace and choose what controls you'd like to visit. But you absolutely must make it back to the finish by 4:15pm.
Check the roster to see when you're helping for the Hobart Twilight Series 2020.
Many thanks to the 56(!) people who have volunteered to assist the organisation of next year’s first Twilight Series. There is just one spot left – on the desk at Taroona on March 11 from 3:15 till 5:15pm. If you can fill this spot please Email Mike.
The roster is below.

Vale Hannah Goddard 24.7.1997 - 7.12.2019
We are devastated to share the sad news of the passing of our precious Hannah.
Hannah was a member of the Tasmanian Schools Team for many years; a member of the Australian Schools Team in 2013 which travelled to New Zealand; a member of the 2015 Junior World Championships Team which competed in Norway; and above all, a treasured member of the Esk Valley Orienteering Club.
Her bravery knew no bounds. Not only was she a gifted orienteer, she was an outstanding netballer and rower. An extraordinary club member, who selflessly gave her time to support club activities as well being a role model and mentor for those orienteers younger than herself.
Loved by her peers who will forever cherish those many memories created by this fun loving young lady. Her smile said it all!
Our hearts go out to Jenny, Rob and Tom and we thank them for sharing their beautiful Hannah with our sport and each and everyone of us. xxx

Vale Ian Atkinson 22.7.1937 to 5.12.2019
Ian and his late wife Jenny were pioneers of orienteering in Tasmania. They were members of the Australopers Club at its foundation in 1979, and both retained an active interest and participation in our sport until ill health overwhelmed.
Ian was an approachable friend and mentor, always ready for a chat at events and meetings. Together with Jenny he was also an incredibly diligent administrator at all levels of our sport. He excelled in handling legal and bureaucratic matters - a valuable legacy.
